The Dutch Village Theme was the main aim and purpose of our trip to Tulip Times.
On the way from Muziekparade Nelis Dutch Village 'in Holland, I noticed the different colors of tulips planted along the roads to the city or residents. It 'was amazing to see thousands of flowers on both sides of the roads. The city and the sympathetic system 500 residents, 000 tulips each year attract tourists not only performance but also on their territory for themselves asgood.
I have had success with a Dutch municipality respecting their identity, not only for future generations of enthusiasts, but also how to promote them and share their culture, history, tradition and craftsmanship, so that other stakeholders can learn more about the ethnicity of a small town, Holland, Michigan, consisting of only 35,000 people, a large percentage of whom are of Dutch origin.
The Nelis Dutch Village 'Theme sun fills us with flags and twelve provinces of the Netherlandsthat line the street for people waiting for a spectacular 25-Bell Carillon Tower, a replica of the entrance to the beautiful Dutch village in force.
My first impression of the Dutch village, a water wheel working group, thought to spread the provision of equipment to grind grain or saw wood, and the life-size statues of the country. The statues representing ordinary people in ordinary walks of life, a baker from a fisherman. They were handmade by local artist Joyce Sweers in cement, attracting visitors "Attention.
We had time to look around before the popular Dutch dance performance began. Our tour begins in the reproduction of Weighhouse in Qudewater, NL. Some people were brave enough to check and, if found guilty, his magic. We opted for the Heksenwaag, a 200-year-old step ladder "witches". "This equipment has been in the Inquisition trials during a medieval ritual of the court before deciding to burn at the stake and that they usedwould let them live. After our "test" each received a sealed "Certificate of proof of innocence of Magic" as a testimony of the law of weights for weighing in - House of the Dutch village.
It 'been fun to see how some people took this conversation seriously. A woman was also disputed the accuracy of their weight. After receiving a certificate of innocence, we visited the Klederdracht (costumes) Museum, the authentic costumes and settings, a Dutch soil characteristics and a dioramapuppet show broad provincial costumes.
Along a replica of a canal and through small bridges, we had the idea of the surrounding villages of Dutch water environment.
We had the opportunity to observe an operation of farmhouse cheese making equipment with old world to the final of cow's milk cheese and carving wooden shoes and Delft blue do with old automated machinery. Watch and admire these ancient skills kept us busy, and demonstrationsold techniques have been recording. We really feel like we've somehow returned to life in the old days the Dutch.
The Nelis Dutch Village 'offers attractions and activities for families with children. First we visited a farm and Frisian barn, where there is a demonstration of a typical Dutch family. Most of the animals were outside, thanks to good weather. In the zoo, children could make goat for a walk. We enjoyed only children have a good time with theirParents.
We spent a few minutes to Zweefmolen, a Dutch swing ride and admire restored Draimolen, 1924 Herschell-Spillman carousel, the family a great time. It 's a nice gesture of the park. These activities are very important to preserve part of a Dutch village attracts many families attend year after year.
A true story de Tiet, Amsterdam street organ, with a demonstration of some of the service man punched switch to another sound was playedcompletely capture our attention. The man was enthusiastic in describing the functioning of the institution. In the building next door, we saw dozens of perforated stored exactly.
The authentic Dutch architecture, scenic walks, canals and beautiful gardens, reminded me of my travels in Europe. Smaller patches of tulips, spread the bottom of this village doll offered some kind of charm of the village. Different colors, sizes and species tulips were amazing. Here I am learningThe name of the black tulip, tulips because each plot is marked by numbered stakes. The "Night Queen" is a perfect name for this beauty. I have many pictures of these beautiful flowers.
Before leaving clogs (wooden shoes) we find power Dancer decided to buy souvenirs. The mall was small I remember as a museum, with an incredible variety of gifts from all over the world, and is also a large collection of Russian dolls. We bought candles on ourlast visit here and I wanted to buy more time, so we entered the candle shop Holland House.
The gift shop was fully implemented by buyers and spectators of the process of candle making three or four employees. Some tourists asked candles with special design and a unique color. The colorful hand-carved candles process has been fantastic. We bought another type of souvenirs and Delft candle for our friends and family.
We finished our trip by visiting theDutch Folk Dance Performance. The dance arena with seating for spectators on one side around to see a spectacle of dancers in costumes Dutch clogs. Compared with the seats was a street organ playing.
At the beginning of the show were the dancers costumes Delft blue with white organdy caps and aprons, costumes modeled the traditional dress of the Dutch provinces. I was completely relaxed watching six enthusiastic young dancers dressed in costumesNetherlands and the execution of four popular dances to the tune barrel organ gold angel.
This spectacular organ Amsterdam is one of the largest ever built, barrel organs and in use since 1880. The large size was one of the reasons why the Dutch government can be sold to the Dutch Village.
We left Holland, Michigan with a sense of appreciation for the small Dutch community for the preservation of their ancient culture and European tradition - not just for posterity, but also for the benefit of us all living in a multicultural society. It was not easy to keep these traditions, but they did happen, and now many other ethnic groups have the opportunity to organize in a way and teach its own history and culture to their children to learn.
